We source all our own timber as locally as possible from FSC registered forests or from carefully managed estates.
We only supply hardwoods for firewood. It burns slower and will produce more heat from your fire.
Our timber is cut to 10″ (25cm) log lengths, split and then put through a drying kiln to reduce moisture content well below 20%. So that it comes to you ready to burn.

A week of drying in a firewood kiln is equivalent to a full year of outdoor drying, providing you with consistently dry and high-quality logs.

If firewood isn’t dried properly to below 20%, it can lead to a range of issues that affect both your fire and your home. Here’s what you need to know:

Lower Heat Output:
Damp firewood absorbs heat from the fire in order to evaporate the water inside, meaning you’ll get less heat for your money. Even if you buy cheap, wet logs, you could end up with a fire that burns weakly and inefficiently, offering only half the heat output of properly dried logs.

Use Our Rainproof Plastic Covers: One of the easiest ways to protect your firewood is by using our supplied rainproof plastic covers. These covers keep moisture out while still allowing the wood to “breathe,” ensuring your logs stay dry and free from mold or rot.
Using you own Log Store: It’s essential to keep your firewood elevated off the ground to prevent it from absorbing moisture from the soil. Use a raised platform or pallet to store your logs on. Ensure your log store is completely protected with a rain proof cover like tin sheeting or plastic sheeting.
How much firewood is in a dumpy bag?
When purchasing firewood, it’s crucial to buy by volume, not by weight. If you buy firewood based on weight, you might end up paying more for less wood, especially if the logs are not fully dried. Damp firewood weighs significantly more than dry firewood—damp logs can be more than twice as heavy as properly seasoned logs. This means you could be paying for water content, not actual wood!
The Difference in Load Sizes:
Many suppliers offer a full or half “load” as their volume but this can be unclear and confusing, there is no “standard load”. We provide large dumpy (also called bulk) bags that offer a quantifiable volume of wood. Our bags when fully filled are 0.73m3.
